Palm Centro and BlackBerry 8820 Comparison Article

Rob Pegoraro over at The Washington Post wrote an interesting article about the Palm Centro and the RIM BlackBerry 8820 in which he compares some of each phone’s smartphone functions.

“Two companies that have been in this business longer than most, Palm and Research in Motion, have just introduced new versions of well-established smartphone designs. Judging from the Palm Centro and RIM’s BlackBerry 8820, even these two veterans can’t settle on what makes a phone smart.”

Rob mentions that the Centro has digital camera and music playback software, and the BlackBerry 8820 leaves those out. And the BlackBerry 8820 has WiFi which Palm leaves out of the Centro. No big surprise there though, huh?

Rob says that both these devices combined might be the ideal smartphone, but the way it is with having to choose one or the other, you’ll have to pick which one’s defects bothers you the less.

Rob goes on to compare the talktime, PIMs, keyboard, and third-party software. It’s a good read so check it out.

Here’s another interesting Rob Pegoraro article on the Centro and BlackBerry 8820. Enjoy! ;-)
